How You Helped

Our generous partners and donors across the state and the country helped to make Books for the Panhandle a huge success, allowing us to distribute books at Wewahitchka Elementary and Port St. Joe Elementary in Gulf County and Riverside Elementary, Sneads Elementary, and Golson Elementary in Jackson County. As of February 2019, over 12,000 children’s books were donated and distributed, and our schools also received many financial donations.

As books of all types arrived though the donation process, we also donated three boxes of preschool books to Caverns Learning Center in Marianna, two boxes of teen books to both Marianna High School in Marianna and Sneads High School in Sneads, four boxes of books to Jackson Alternative School in Marianna, and ten boxes of adult books to replenish and support the Little Free Lending Library in Marianna.

We had collection sites throughout Tallahassee, the Jacksonville area, Sarasota, Orlando, Lake Worth, and Savannah, Georgia. Although our collection sites closed on December 16, 2018, those still interested in helping in the region can make a monetary gift directly to the schools in Gulf and Jackson Counties.
